Renowned for his leadership, strength, and versatility, Marcel Desailly was a key figure in one of the most successful eras in French football. Desailly was a crucial part of France’s successes, winning the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. He also captained the French national team during their victorious 2001 Confederations Cup campaign. At club level he was equally successful winning back to back UEFA Champions Leagues with Marseille and AC Milan respectively in the early 90s. His time particularly at AC Milan cemented his career as one of the greatest defenders of all time.
