Jokingly known as “Lionel Messi’s” bodyguard on the pitch, Rodrigo De Paul has become the enforcer of the Argentinian National team over the last few years. De Paul has been one of the key figures in Argentina’s successful Copa America campaigns in 2021 and 2024 but it was his performances in the World Cup in 2022 that helped Argentina reach the promised land of becoming world champions. At club level De Paul is known for his time at Udinese and Atletico Madrid. At Udinese he finished the 2018/19 season as top goal scorer despite playing in Midfield and in 2020 he became club captain. In July 2021 De Paul signed a 5 year deal with Atletico Madrid and has been the engine in Diego Simeone’s side.
